Traits are wonderful passive attributes that influence your character's capabilities. These intriguing qualities can transform your character from “that one guy who kills goblins” to “that legendary hero who bravely saved our village from certain doom.” Many Traits will require specific prerequisites in order to be able to acquire them, such as a battle caliber increase or possessing a high Feature. If a trait does come with a prerequisite, it will be clearly outlined in the Trait’s description for your convenience. Choose wisely, as these decisions can greatly impact your character's journey. Once you have purchased a Trait, you cannot trade that trait back for something else, so make sure to pick Traits that truly resonate with your vision for your character.

We said “purchase”. Let’s touch up on that. Upon character creation, you will be given a total of 30 Trait Tokens to start your adventure. These valuable tokens are used to purchase Traits for your character. Each Trait will cost a certain amount of of these tokens, so choose wisely as you plan your character's unique development. Remember, you will never be given more than those initial 30 tokens, so make them count.

Upon character creation, and every 10th Rave level, you will be given the opportunity to use your remaining tokens to purchase new Traits. You are not required to purchase any. Think of Traits as your “skill tree”. Many Traits have the prerequisite of having purchased a specific Trait at a previous level. This means that it will take time to be cool enough for that Trait. Plot out what you want for your character. Look at Traits that have a lot of prerequisites, and find one that you may want for your character. This gives you something to work towards whenever you increase in level.

While it might be tempting to use all of your trait tokens at level 1 and get a bunch of things, the things you are getting will not be great in comparison to what you could get by following one of the many trees available. Many Traits are prerequisites for other Traits, incentivising you to plot out a path for your character. Go through some of the Traits that are higher up in Trees, and find something you want for your character. That way, you have a route for your character to take whenever they have the opportunity to choose new Traits.

Traits and Trait Tokens

Limit: You will see some Traits say “limit” followed by a number in paranthesis. This tells you that this specific effect can be used a certain number of times per full rest. That number, being whatever is in the paranethesis. For example; “limit (2)” means that it can be used two times per full rest.

†: This symbol indicates that the Trait is the prerequisite for a different Trait.

◊: This symbol represents how many tokens the Trait will cost. Each Trait will cost a number of tokens equal to the number of listed.

‡: This symbol indicated that the Trait is a “Spell Link Trait”. This Traits all share the prerequisite of the “Spell Focus” Trait having been purchased at a previous level. No more than 2 of these Traits can be acquired at a time.

The following are the Trait trees that are available. It works the same way as a skill in other video games. In order to learn a Trait in a Trait tree, you must have learned the Trait that is above it, at a previous level. This does mean that you can only advance to the next step in a Trait Tree every 10 levels. It is not a fast process, but the pay off is most certainly worth it.

There will likely be prerequisites for a Trait beyond having learned the previous Trait in the Tree at a previous level. That is simply an additional prerequisite. To see the complete list of Traits, including a description and their prerequisites, click the “Traits List” button.
